HB449 would let long-serving investigators for the Twenty-fourth Judicial Circuit receive their service pistol and badge when they leave in good standing, and it would move hiring of these investigators to general law, repealing a prior special act.
The bill applies to investigators for the District Attorney in the Twenty-fourth Judicial Circuit (Fayette, Lamar, Pickens). If an investigator serves 10 years or more and leaves in good standing, the district attorney may give them their service pistol and badge at no cost. It requires investigators to be hired under general law rather than a specialized act, and repeals Act 88-324 from 1988. The act becomes effective on the first day of the third month after it passes and is approved.
