The Alabama Legislature designates a Day of Appreciation for Boy Scouts of Alabama and creates two awards to recognize Scouts and their hosting organizations during the State Games.
It establishes two honors: the Meritorious Scouting Award for Boy Scouts of Alabama, to be presented by the Alabama Sports Festival Foundation, and a Certificate of Appreciation for Chartered Organizations That Host Scout Units in Alabama. It designates June 21, 2013 as Day of Appreciation for Boy Scouts of Alabama and directs the Honoring Boy Scouts of Alabama to occur at 7:00 PM during the State Games XXXI Opening Ceremony, with the intent to honor Girl Scouts of Alabama the following year. It also notes that June 21, 2013 is Olympic Day in Alabama and ties the event to celebrations and recognition during the opening ceremony.
