Title
One call notification, excavate or excavation, public streets, highways, or other easements, definition expanded to exclude anyone responsible for maintenance of streets, Sec. 37-15-2 am'd.
Description
<p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, any person conducting excavation activities on a public street, highway, or public easement is required to first notify the One-Call Notification System to determine the location of all underground facilities in the location where excavation will occur</p><p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, the term "excavate or excavation" for purposes of requiring notification does not include routine roadway maintenance activities carried out by state or local government road maintenance employees or contractors</p><p class="bill_description"> This bill would revise the definition of the term "excavate or excavation" to delete the reference to state and local government maintenance employees and to provide that excavation for purposes of notification does not include routine roadway maintenance activities that are carried out by or for anyone responsible for maintaining public roadways</p><p class="bill_entitled_an_act"> To amend Section 37-15-2 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to the One-Call Notification System; to further define the term excavate or excavation. </p>
