HJR44 creates a temporary joint committee to study the State House's condition and make recommendations for improvements.
It forms a nine-member Joint Interim Committee on State House Conditions to review the building’s environmental conditions and physical systems, including public access to meetings, and to base its recommendations on the Department of Finance’s Facility Condition Assessment. The committee must report its findings to the House Speaker and Senate President Pro Tempore by December 1, 2020, after which it dissolves. Members receive per diem and travel pay, and up to $50,000 in expenses will be funded from the Legislative Council budget.
