HB105 would extend retirement benefits to include an agency badge and, for eligible officers, a pistol, for certified law enforcement officers retiring from any state, county, or municipal agency that requires certification.
It expands who can receive retirement benefits to any certified officer employed by a state, county, or municipal agency that requires certification. Agencies must provide the qualifying officer with the agency-issued badge as part of retirement benefits and may provide the agency-issued pistol. If the agency does not provide the pistol, it may offer to sell the pistol to the retiree at a fair market price. The act defines terms and takes effect October 1, 2025.
