HB221 changes how St. Clair County's Revenue Commissioner gets paid, adding new allowances now and promising salary parity with the Probate Judge later.
It creates an expense account allowance for the Revenue Commissioner equal to the difference between the May 5, 2023 salary and the Probate Judge's salary, paid in equal monthly installments from the county's general fund, replacing prior expense allowances. Starting June 1, 2025, it adds an additional monthly expense allowance of $375 from the general fund. After the next term of office following October 1, 2027, the Revenue Commissioner would receive an annual salary equal to the Probate Judge's salary and the previous allowances would be void. The bill also repeals a prior compensation provision (Act 2020-182, Section 4) and becomes effective June 1, 2025.
