SB269 would let the Alabama Emergency Management Agency use public money to buy promotional and educational materials to raise public awareness of emergency preparedness, and it updates related law language.
If enacted, the bill authorizes the EMA Director to purchase promotional and educational materials from appropriated funds to support emergency management and public education. It also makes non-substantive, technical updates to the code language and removes duplicated language. The Director would continue to lead the agency and would also hold the title of Assistant Director of Homeland Security for Emergency Preparedness and Response. The changes take effect on October 1, 2025.
