Under existing law, the Legislature, by local legislation, may abolish the office of constable in a county.
This bill would authorize the Legislature, by local legislation, to revise the number of constables in the county, revise the areas within the county to be represented by a constable, or revise the conditions under which a constable vacates his or her office.
This bill would also make conforming changes.
