Senate Shelby County Legislation Hearing
Room 729 at 08:15:00

This bill would let Shelby County sell commodities produced by its landfill (like gas and minerals) and use the proceeds to fund solid-waste services and landfill upkeep through competitive bidding.
The Shelby County Commission could authorize the sale of gas, minerals, or other commodities produced by the county's landfill. Sales would be conducted through free and open competitive bidding and sealed bids, to the lowest responsible bidder, with contracts limited to 20 years. Proceeds from the sales would go to the county's General Fund and be used for solid-waste collection/disposal, landfill maintenance and construction (including the landfill gas collection system), and other legally allowed purposes.
