SB166 would let campaign filing records be destroyed four years after their related filing date.
The bill adds a new section that allows political action committees, principal campaign committees, and other persons required to file under the Fair Campaign Practices Act to destroy records four years after the filing date of the related report or statement. It defines what counts as records eligible for destruction, including the records themselves and copies of filed reports or statements plus related materials. The provision becomes effective on October 1, 2026.
