About
Commissioner Brandon is a long-time resident of Madison County. He and his wife, Corrine, have been married for 42 years and have two children and three grandchildren.
He holds a teaching degree from Harding University and has served in the field of education for 34 years. The majority of those years have been in District 1 of Madison County, where he has taught, coached, and served on a number of advisory boards including the Superintendent’s Advisory Board. During this time, he received recognition as Teacher of the Year at his school and the Coca-Cola Always Teaching Award. Nationally he was honored to receive the Steve Harvey’s Neighborhood Award for outstanding work in one’s community. For thirteen years he served as the president of MCSSA.
Commissioner Brandon is an accomplished speaker and published author of articles and books relating stories to the insight of school age children such as “Mr. Brandon’s School Bus: What I Heard on the Way to School". He has spoken in a variety of states and countries and taught college-level courses in Africa and Central America. Since 1993 he has made approximately fifty trips to foreign countries directing educational and humanitarian efforts.
