Title
Engineers and Land Surveyors, State Board of Licensure for Professional, examinations, approval by board, disciplinary penalties and reissuance of revoked licenses, number of board members required, Secs. 34-11-1, 34-11-4, 34-11-5, 34-11-6, 34-11-9, 34-11-11, 34-11-12, 34-11-30, 34-11-31, 34-11-34 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, engineers and land surveyors are regulated by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors. As part of the licensure process, engineers and land surveyors are required to pass certain examinations, and the fee for each examination is capped at $300. At least three members of the board are required to find guilt before a licensee can be punished for certain wrongdoing. Similarly, at least three members of the board must approve the reissuance of a certificate of licensure that has been revoked. A quorum of the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is not less than three members

This bill would provide for approval of examinations for the licensing of engineers and land surveyors by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors

This bill would eliminate the $300 cap on the fee associated with an examination or reexamination for licensure

This bill would specify that a majority of the deliberating board members must find a licensee guilty of wrongdoing prior to imposing certain disciplinary penalties and must approve the reissuance of a certificate of licensure that has been revoked

This bill would also specify that a quorum of the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors would consist of a simple majority

To amend Sections 34-11-1, 34-11-4, 34-11-5, 34-11-6, 34-11-9, 34-11-11, 34-11-12, 34-11-30, 34-11-31, and 34-11-34 of the Code of Alabama 1975, relating to engineers and land surveyors; to provide for approval of engineer and land surveyor licensing examinations by the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors; to eliminate the cap on the fee associated with an examination or reexamination for licensure; to specify the number of members necessary to impose certain disciplinary penalties against licensees and to approve reissuance of revoked certificates of licensure; and to specify that a quorum of the State Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Land Surveyors is a simple majority.
