HB30 adds a $5 special index fee on each instrument filed in Marengo County probate court, with the money used to improve recording and related services.
It imposes a new five-dollar fee on every real or personal property instrument or other instrument recorded or filed in the Marengo County judge of probate's office, in addition to existing fees. The collected funds go into a special fund maintained by the judge of probate for improvements to recording, archiving, internet technology, preservation, retrieval, and for equipment, maintenance, training, and services for the recording, court, and license divisions. The act does not change existing fee laws, and any conflicting laws are repealed; it becomes effective on the first day of the first month after passage and governor approval.
