HB539 lets the Montgomery County Sheriff charge a $25 maximum per request for fingerprinting and certain criminal history services, with the revenue sent to the county general fund.
If enacted, the Sheriff may charge up to $25 per request for fingerprinting and, where allowed by law, criminal history investigations and reports. The fee cannot be charged for law enforcement purposes on behalf of another agency and does not apply to pistol permit applicants. Fees collected must be remitted monthly to the Montgomery County Commission for deposit into the county general fund. The act becomes effective immediately after the Governor signs it.
