In civil cases in Talladega County's circuit and district courts, a solicitor's fee is assessed equal to the docket fee or court cost that would be assessed and distributed to the Fair Trial Tax Fund. The fees are distributed monthly: $5 from each case goes to the Circuit Clerk's Office in Talladega County, and the remainder goes to the solicitor's fund or district attorney's fund in the county (or to the fund prescribed by law for the solicitor's fee). The solicitor's fee may be used by the district attorney for expenses or legitimate law enforcement purposes, and the portion for the Circuit Clerk may be used for lawful purposes at the Clerk's request. The act takes effect immediately after the Governor's approval.
