SB480 would add new court costs in Lauderdale County courts and Florence's Municipal Court, with the proceeds funding the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force.
It imposes additional court costs in the circuit and district courts of Lauderdale County and the Municipal Court of the City of Florence. The costs are: $25 for misdemeanor drug or drug paraphernalia cases, $50 for felony drug cases, and $25 for all other criminal cases (excluding traffic). All money collected is sent monthly to the City of Florence General Fund to be deposited into the Lauderdale County Drug Task Force’s general operating fund, and used only to support drug enforcement. The changes take effect on the first day of the third month after the bill becomes law.
