Bill Summary
This bill would allow the parents or legal guardian of a child who has an individualized education program (IEP) to transfer the child from one public school or school district to any other public school or school district in the state.
This bill would also require the prompt transfer of the child's records between schools.
Relating to the education of exceptional children; to amend Section 16-39-8, Code of Alabama 1975, providing for the placement of exceptional children; and to add Section 16-39-8.1 to the Code of Alabama 1975, to allow the transfer of a child with an individualized education program (IEP) between public schools in the state; and to require the prompt transfer of the child's records between schools.
