Title
State ad valorem tax, additional one-half mill, proceeds distributed evenly between Alabama Firefighters' Annuity and Benefit Fund and Alabama Peace Officers' Annuity and Benefit Fund, const. amend.
Description

Currently, the state levies a 6.5 mill annual ad valorem tax on the assessed value of taxable property in the state

This bill would propose a constitutional amendment to levy an additional one-half mill annual state ad valorem tax. The first 20 percent of the net proceeds of the additional levy would be distributed evenly between the Alabama Firefighters' Annuity and Benefit Fund and the Alabama Peace Officers' Annuity and Benefit Fund, with remaining proceeds distributed to the State General Fund

To propose an amendment to the Constitution of Alabama of 1901, as amended, to levy an additional one-half mill of state ad valorem tax; and to provide that the first 20 percent of the net proceeds shall be distributed equally between the Alabama Firefighters' Annuity and Benefit Fund and the Alabama Peace Officers' Annuity and Benefit Fund, and to provide that the remaining proceeds be distributed to the State General Fund.
