HB572 clarifies that the State Revenue Commissioner will set the rules for appraising, mapping, and valuing property in Russell County and updates who pays for those costs.
It amends Act 343 of 1976 to require the State Revenue Commissioner to prescribe the functions, duties, and responsibilities needed to ensure property is appraised, mapped, and valued in accordance with the law. It requires the county revenue commissioner to collect the cost of the appraisal and mapping program from county ad valorem tax funds, with each fund custodian paying a pro rata share for the properties taxed by that fund. It becomes effective immediately after the governor approves it.
