Title

Motor vehicles, salvage vehicles, to provide that a certificate of title may be issued for a motorcycle where the frame was obtained from a junk vehicle, Act 2011-633, 2011 Reg. Sess., am'd; Sec. 32-8-87 am'd.

Description

<p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, the Department of Revenue may issue a certificate of title to any motor vehicle for which a salvage certificate has been issued by this or any other state, and the vehicle has been completely restored to its operating condition that existed prior to the event which caused the issuance of a salvage certificate</p><p class="bill_description"> Any motor vehicle for which a certificate of title has been issued by any state with the notation of junk, parts car, parts only, nonrebuildable, or when a certificate of destruction or bill of sale has been issued for transfer of the vehicle with similar language is considered a junk vehicle and shall not be titled in this state. No certificate of title may be issued for any rebuilt vehicle where the frame or majority of the major component parts were obtained from a junk vehicle</p><p class="bill_description"> This bill would delete the reference to the frame being considered separately and would authorize a new certificate of title to be used provided a majority of the major component parts were not obtained from a junk vehicle</p><p class="bill_entitled_an_act"> To amend Section 32-8-87, Code of Alabama 1975, as last amended by Act 2011-633 of the 2011 Regular Session, relating to the issuance of new certificates of titles for rebuilt motor vehicles; to authorize a certificate of title to be issued for a certain rebuilt motor vehicle provided a majority of the major component parts were not obtained from a junk vehicle. </p>
