Title

Municipalities, counties, budgets, ordinances, online access required, budgets approved prior to fiscal year, circuit judge authorized to compel production of budget if governing body fails to submit

Description

This bill would require the governing body of a county or municipality to provide online access to its annual budget and to submit the budget to the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts.

This bill would require the governing body of a county or municipality to approve its budget prior to the beginning of its fiscal year.

This bill would require the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts to provide online access to the annual budget of a county or municipality that does not have a website and keep a database of county and municipal budgets to ensure that each county and municipality complies with this act.

This bill would authorize a circuit judge of the judicial circuit in which the county or municipality is located to compel the county or municipality to submit an annual budget to the Department of Examiners of Public Accounts within a time period prescribed by the circuit judge.
