Allows Lee County to adopt a supplemental purchasing process using vendor/store and procurement cards, with rebates credited to the county's General Fund.
The Lee County Commission can create an additional purchasing process for buying personal property and may use vendor cards and procurement cards for purchases and billing. The process must follow good business practices, include safeguards to reduce misappropriation, provide cost savings, and include training for employees. The county may receive rebates from procurement card programs, deposited to the General Fund to first reimburse operating costs and then support general county needs. The act does not change existing requirements for competitive bidding when required by law and takes effect as soon as the Governor signs it.
