Summary

Session
Regular Session 2014
Title
Insurance Department, licensing of insurance producers, title insurance agents, or independent adjusters, applicants, fingerprinting for criminal background check, provisions regarding transfer to National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC's) deleted, Secs. 27-7-4.4, 27-9A-17, 27-25-4.6 am'd.
Description

Under existing law, the Commissioner of Insurance is authorized to collect fingerprints and perform a criminal history record check of all new applicants for license as an insurance producer, title insurance agent, or independent adjuster. The existing law authorizes fingerprint records to be stored with the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and for stored records to be used by the Commissioner.

This bill would amend the fingerprint enabling laws to remove all references to submitting and storing the electronic fingerprint records with the NAIC for permanent retention in a centralized repository and would provide an exception for limited lines producers.
