Randolph County adds new service-of-process fees to fund the Sheriff’s Department, charging $15 for in-state civil cases and $75 for out-of-state civil or criminal cases.
The bill creates two new costs: a $15 service fee for serving papers in civil or quasi-civil proceedings in Randolph County courts, and a $75 service fee for serving papers in civil or criminal actions filed outside Alabama. These fees are collected like other court costs and the money goes to the Randolph County General Fund designated for the Sheriff's Department Fund. The act becomes effective on April 1, 2014.
