- Cotton producers, assessments to promote cotton, referendum without refund provisions authorized, Sec. 2-8-193 am'd.
- Description
Under existing law, assessments are authorized on producers of cotton after referendums of cotton producers to be used by a commission of nonprofit associations to promote cotton. A cotton producer may request a refund of any assessment from the commission.
This bill would authorize additional referendums to approve the collection of assessments without any provision for refunds. The bill would be effective only upon the adoption of a constitutional amendment authorizing assessments without any provision for refunds.
