Title: Plumbers, Gas Fitters Board, definition, board disciplinary powers, meeting, reciprocity fee, Home Builders Foundation, prohibited activities, permitted activities, Sec. 34-37-17.1 added; Secs. 34-37-10, 34-37-13 repealed; Secs. 34-37-1, 34-37-2, 34-37-4, 34-37-5, 34-37-6, 34-37-8, 34-37-9, 34-37-11, 34-37-12, 34-37-14, 34-37-15, 34-37-17 am'd.
Description: This bill would amend various provisions of Chapter 37, Title 34, Code of Alabama 1975, of the Plumbers and Gas Fitters Law.
The bill would require an apprentice gas fitter or plumber to have a current annual certificate; provide additional defined terms; authorize the board to expend funds for public awareness purposes; provide further for the duties of the deputy director of the board; provide for the Home Builders Foundation; further define prohibited activities and disciplinary actions of the board; recognize registration as well as certificates; allow the board to consider requests for waiver back years and penalties; abolish temporary certificates; provide fees for reciprocal agreements; provide further for administrative fines, fees, and penalties, and other administrative disciplinary actions; abolish bonding requirements; provide for inactive status for persons registered by the board; provide further for certain authorized acts and works subject to inspection; provide for exemptions; provide disciplinary training, fines, and penalties; and provide for records and confidentiality of board proceedings.
