Description
<p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, the Division of Surface
Mining Control and Reclamation of the Alabama
Surface Mining Commission issues surface coal
mining reclamation permits</p><p class="bill_description">
Under existing law, the commission may
charge a permit fee not to exceed the anticipated
cost of reviewing, administering, and enforcing the
permit</p><p class="bill_description">
Under existing law, the permit fee may be
paid over the term of the permit</p><p class="bill_description">
This bill would specify that the reclamation
permit fee would be payable over the life of the
mine</p><p class="bill_description">
This bill would specify that the life of the
mine means the term of the permit and the time it
takes to complete all surface mining and
reclamation activities</p><p class="bill_entitled_an_act"> To amend Section 9-16-83, Code of Alabama 1975,
relating to surface coal mining; to provide for payment of the
reclamation permit fee over the life of the mine.
