Class 4 municipalities, personnel system, eligibility lists, appointments and probationary periods, further provided, Secs. 11-44B-43, 11-44B-44 am'd.
Description
<p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, in certain Class municipalities, a person who has been convicted of a felony or an offense involving dishonesty or false statement is disqualified from employment with the municipality</p><p class="bill_description"> This bill would delete the provision providing for that disqualification</p><p class="bill_description"> Under existing law, in certain Class municipalities, all appointments to covered jobs, including promotions and transfers, are on a probationary basis for a period of one year from the date of the appointment</p><p class="bill_description"> This bill would provided that demotions are also on a probationary basis and would also provide that the probationary basis is from the beginning of employment</p><p class="bill_description"> This bill would also provide a temporary stay for the probationary period if the person takes a leave of absence</p><p class="bill_entitled_an_act"> Relating to certain Class 4 municipalities; to amend Sections 11-44B-43 and 11-44B-44, Code of Alabama 1975, to remove the prohibition that disqualified a person who has been convicted of a felony or an offense involving dishonesty or false statement from municipal employment; to provide that all appointments to covered jobs, including promotions, demotions, and transfers, are on a probationary basis from the beginning of employment; and to provide a temporary stay of the probationary period during a leave of absence. </p>
