- Title
- Motor vehicles, automated traffic enforcement systems, provides that State Law Enforcement Agency gives approval to a municipality before authorized to use, municipality issues notices of violations, civil fines, late fees, Automated Traffic Enforcement Safety Act
- Description
Under existing law, a municipality is authorized to use automated traffic enforcement systems once an ordinance is passed.
This bill would require a municipality receive approval from the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency prior to being authorized to use automated traffic enforcement systems.
This bill would provide for the issuance of notices and violations by municipalities; to provide for civil fines and late fees for violations.
This bill would further provide for distribution of civil fines, fees, and court costs.
This bill would provide for adjudicative hearings by municipal courts in contested cases.
This bill would further provide for appeals from municipal courts to circuit courts.
This bill would provide that a violation pursuant to this act is not a criminal conviction.
