It creates a $15,000 per year expense allowance for the Monroe County sheriff, paid in monthly installments and in addition to other pay or benefits (and may be counted toward retirement contributions). Beginning with the next term of office, this amount becomes part of the sheriff’s compensation rather than a separate expense allowance, and the original expense allowance provision is voided. The act takes effect on October 1, 2021.
