A joint resolution commending Taiwan for its relations with the United States and Alabama and urging closer economic, educational, and people-to-people ties, including a Taiwan trade office and participation in international affairs.
The bill recognizes Taiwan as a major trading partner and highlights Alabama’s educational links with Taiwan. It encourages Alabama lawmakers to join the Taiwan Caucus and to welcome a Taiwan trade office, aiming to attract investment and increase exchanges. It supports the U.S.-Taiwan Initiative on 21st-Century Trade, negotiations on a bilateral trade agreement, and Taiwan’s meaningful participation in international organizations such as the WHO, UNFCCC, ICAO, INTERPOL, and IPEF. It also directs that a certified copy of the resolution be sent to the Governor, Secretary of State, Alabama Congressional Delegation, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Atlanta.
