HB334 expands crime victims' compensation to include income loss for victims of human trafficking and increases commission members' pay for duties beyond attending meetings.
It adds loss of income for victims of human trafficking to the definition of work loss eligible for compensation. It also makes commission members eligible for pay for days spent performing their duties, not just days at meetings, and it sets per diem and mileage rules. The changes take effect October 1, 2024 and are implemented by amending sections 15-23-3 and 15-23-4 of the Alabama Code.
