Cullman County Sheriff's Office retirees with 10+ years of service may receive a department-issued pistol, a retired badge, and a retired commission card at no cost.
The bill amends Section 45-22-234 to allow eligible retirees to receive from the sheriff a pistol (as long as it is a weapon furnished by the department), a retired badge, and a retired commission card at no cost. Eligibility requires 10+ years of service as a law enforcement officer with the Cullman County Sheriff's Office and retirement in good standing. The act has retroactive effect to January 1, 1999 and becomes effective October 1, 2024.
