HB47 would exempt the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention, Inc., and its member local Baptist associations from state, county, and municipal sales and use taxes, with county and municipal exemptions requiring local approval.
Amends Section 40-23-5 to include the Alabama State Missionary Baptist Convention, Inc., and each local Baptist association in good standing as tax-exempt from state, county, and municipal sales and use taxes. Requires the convention to submit to the Department of Revenue a list of its local associations in good standing, as specified by department rules. Requires local governments to approve county or municipal tax exemptions by resolution or ordinance for those taxes to apply, otherwise the exemption does not extend to county/municipal taxes.
