HB81 makes certain child sex offenses ineligible for parole and for pardons, effective October 1, 2024.
It changes Alabama law to bar parole for any person convicted of a sex offense involving a child that is a Class A or B felony. It also bars any person convicted of a sex offense involving a child from receiving a pardon. These changes override the usual parole and pardon rules, and the act is known as Aaron's law. The effective date is October 1, 2024.
