SB27 would expand the items that the state must reimburse counties for as election expenses.
It adds more categories of costs that counties can be reimbursed for by the state in elections. The bill covers compensation for election officials, absentee election manager costs, training and travel, ballots and other materials, electronic poll books and maintenance, electronic voting machines, polling place rental, absentee ballots, lists of qualified electors, and publication costs, plus any other items approved by the Election Expense Reimbursement Committee. It applies to primary and general elections beginning November 5, 2024, with an effective date of October 1, 2024.
