House RULES (House) Hearing
Room 617 at 14:15:00

SJR51 continues the Alabama Opioid Overdose and Addiction Council to coordinate state efforts to fight opioid overdoses and addiction.
It keeps the council alive with its current leadership and membership, and requires it to continue meeting, study the state's opioid crisis, monitor the strategic action plan, and provide updates and recommendations to the Governor. It lets non-legislative council members be reimbursed for expenses related to meetings, training, and duties. It provides legislative council members with regular compensation, per diem, and travel expenses for each meeting day, paid from legislative funds, with a restriction that no one may receive extra compensation or per diem when the Legislature is in session or if they are already paid for other state business on the same dates.
