Room 617 at 13:30:00

HB255 would let State Police Tier II Plan members receive pay for up to 80 hours of unused annual leave per year beyond 480 hours, and extend similar leave-payment rules to certain DPS and Corrections staff.
The bill amends the leave-payment rules to allow compensation for accrued, unused annual leave that exceeds specific thresholds. For State Police Tier II Plan members, payment can cover up to 80 hours per year above 480 hours. For Department of Public Safety officers, payment is allowed for leave beyond 60 days, up to 10 days per year. For corrections officers certified by the Alabama Peace Officers' Standards and Training Commission, payment is allowed for leave beyond 480 hours, up to 80 hours per year. Payments are calculated using the employee's regular rate of pay, and the act becomes effective October 1, 2025.
