HB423 would bar inmates convicted of murder from any temporary release programs, effective October 1, 2025.
The bill removes eligibility for temporary release programs for inmates serving a term of confinement due to a murder conviction. It applies to both county and state inmates and to all types of temporary release programs described in three articles of Chapter 8, Title 14 of the Alabama Code. The change targets those convicted of murder under Section 13A-6-2.
