HB429 extends Monroe County's special county privilege license tax until jail construction debt is paid and directs the net proceeds afterward to maintenance of the detention facility and to ambulance/E911 services.
The bill amends the applicable code to extend how long the special county privilege license tax can be collected, setting the expiration as the date when all jail construction debt is paid and retired. After that debt is cleared, the net proceeds from the tax will be deposited into the county general fund and used for the ongoing maintenance, operation, or renovation of the Monroe County Detention Facility or to support ambulance services or E911 in the county. The act becomes effective on June 1, 2025.
