HB457 would provide Clarke County Sheriff with a $32,500 annual expense allowance after enactment, then replace it with a $32,500 salary increase at the start of the next term of office.
It creates a $32,500 annual expense allowance for the Clarke County Sheriff beginning the first day of the month after adoption, paid from the county general fund and in addition to other compensation (and may count toward retirement). At the start of the sheriff’s next term, the annual salary would be increased by $32,500 and the expense allowance would be void. The new pay and salary would replace any other sheriff compensation and would supersede existing laws on sheriff pay. The act becomes effective immediately.
