HB461 would let the Alabama Educational Television Foundation Authority raise and spend funds to secure more funding, while keeping a ban on propaganda or influencing legislation.
The bill changes the law to authorize the Authority to engage in fundraising and use funds to obtain additional funding. It preserves the prohibition on propaganda, influencing legislation, and political campaigns, but adds an exception allowing fundraising activities as long as the funds are used in compliance with the Internal Revenue Code and federal regulations. The new rules take effect October 1, 2025.
