House Commerce and Small Business Hearing
Room 418 at 15:00:00

This bill would prevent counties and most municipalities in Alabama from requiring a licensed architect or professional engineer to approve plans for a new single-family home that is under three stories tall.
If passed, the bill would stop local governments from demanding architect or engineer approvals for construction plans of single-family residences under three stories. Baldwin County is exempt from the municipal prohibition, meaning municipalities in Baldwin County could still set other rules, but Section 2 would still apply to counties statewide. The measure takes effect immediately after enactment.
