HB75 would require Alabama public high schools to excuse students from class for National Signing Day activities related to athletic scholarships, college commitments, apprenticeships, and military enlistments, with reasonable accommodations.
If enacted, high schools must excuse students who sign commitment letters during class time as part of National Signing Day activities for athletics, postsecondary commitments, apprenticeships, or military enlistments. Schools must provide reasonable accommodations (e.g., space, Internet access, seating) that do not disrupt instruction. Guests may attend per local policy, and principals may excuse additional students to attend. The act takes effect October 1, 2026.
