HB413 would provide longevity pay to the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff, Tax Assessor, and Tax Collector starting June 1, 2026, funded by the county's general fund and set by the County Commission.
Starting June 1, 2026, the Tuscaloosa County Sheriff would receive the same longevity pay as other active full-time county employees, paid from the county general fund in the same manner as those employees. Starting June 1, 2026, the Tuscaloosa County Tax Assessor and the Tuscaloosa County Tax Collector would also receive the same longevity pay, paid from the county general fund in the same manner as other employees. The Tuscaloosa County Commission would determine the exact amount of longevity pay for each official and the date the payment is made. The act becomes effective on June 1, 2026.
