House State Government Hearing
Room 206 at 15:00:00

SB22 updates how Senate members are appointed to boards and commissions and makes broad technical updates to Alabama’s code related to boards and regional planning.
The bill changes appointing authority for Senate members on several boards by routing appointments through Senate leadership (President Pro Tempore or Speaker) and allowing deputy designations, with four-year terms. It also creates or reorganizes multiple regional and statewide boards, including the Southern Growth Policies Board, the Alabama Electronic Voting Committee, the Joint Transportation Committee, and the Alabama Workforce Board, and sets their membership and duties. Additionally, it updates governance, budgeting, reporting, and diversity requirements for these boards and makes nonsubstantive, technical language updates across numerous code sections.
