The bill extends the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling for five more years, to October 1, 2028, and preserves the existing licensing framework, with an effective date of June 1, 2026.
It keeps the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling in existence and able to regulate counselors through October 1, 2028. It preserves the current statutes that create and govern the board (Sections 34-8A-1 through 34-8A-24). It reflects the Sunset Committee's recommendation and the Legislature's agreement. It becomes effective June 1, 2026.
