House Boards, Agencies and Commissions Hearing
Room 123 at 10:30:00

SB127 would extend the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling for two more years, until October 1, 2028, under the Alabama Sunset Law.
The bill would keep the Alabama Board of Examiners in Counseling in existence and continue its regulatory role over counselors through October 1, 2028. It preserves the board’s enabling statutes (34-8A-1 to 34-8A-24) and keeps current licensing and disciplinary processes in place. It follows the Sunset Committee’s recommendation to continue the board and sets the act’s effective date at June 1, 2026.
