SB287 would allow licensed Alabama importers to bring US-made alcoholic beverages into the state, shift the importer licensure year to October 1, and update the law with minor technical revisions, effective October 1, 2026.
It would explicitly authorize importer licenses to permit the importation of alcoholic beverages manufactured in the United States into Alabama for sale or distribution to the board or wholesalers. It would move the beginning of the importer license year from January 1 to October 1 to align with other ABC license categories. It would delete duplicative language and make non-substantive, technical revisions to update the code language to current style. The act would become effective on October 1, 2026.
