Requires the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to issue deeds to Franklin County's school lands located in Walker and Fayette counties upon request.
If enacted, the bill adds a new Section 16-20-10 to Alabama law. It requires the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to issue a deed to the Franklin County Board of Education for all indemnity lands located in Walker and Fayette counties where Franklin County schools are the sole beneficiary, upon the board’s request. The act includes intent related to a constitutional provision (Section 30-5.20 of the 2022 Constitution) and becomes effective October 1, 2026.
