About

AshLeigh Meyer Dunham is a Democratic candidate for Associate Justice of the Alabama Supreme Court for the 2026 election cycle. A resident of Birmingham, Dunham currently serves as a court referee in the Jefferson County Juvenile Court, where she presides over sensitive cases involving children and families in crisis. Throughout her 15-year legal career, she has participated in over 1,000 cases as an attorney, court referee, and Special Circuit Court Judge, establishing a professional reputation centered on family law and child advocacy.

Before her judicial service, Dunham founded Magic City Fertility Law, a practice dedicated to helping families navigate the legal complexities of assisted reproduction and fertility treatments. Her entry into the statewide political arena was heavily influenced by the Alabama Supreme Court's 2024 ruling regarding frozen embryos, a decision she criticized as "out of touch" with Alabama families. Having personally navigated the challenges of infertility and traveled out of state to access in-vitro fertilization (IVF) to conceive her daughter, Dunham has made reproductive healthcare access and the protection of parental rights central pillars of her campaign platform.
